Community House in Central London

We at 16A Hinde Street share a large house, between 6 housemates. We are in our 20s and early 30s. We live in a great location, and next door to our church - Hinde Street Methodist Church.

Our house is a 'community house', owned and run by Hinde Street Methodist Church. Living in 16a means committing to Hinde Street as our ‘home’ church, and getting involved with activities related to the life of the Church and its social outreach. We particularly support the church by providing front desk cover when the caretaker is on leave. It also means being committed to engaging with the house community, alongside our neighbours in the community house at 19 Thayer Street. We enjoy a weekly community night/dinner at home together, and often spend time visiting galleries, the theatre, the pub and other activities together.

Spread out over four floors, the flat has two bathroom/shower rooms, and two additional toilets. We have a large kitchen and a large, comfortably furnished lounge with piano and television. There is a washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher and wi-fi. Rent is £744/month, plus bills (apx £70 per month), which is very good value for money given the amazing central location. We also have access to Manchester Square Gardens (private garden) at the end of the street.

Living in the community house, there is definitely an element of being involved in church and community life, which makes it more than a regular house-share. If this would be something you would be interested in, please let us know and we can send you more details and potentially arrange a viewing.

We are aware that during Covid-19, we will need to take extra precautions to be safe and secure. We would be more than happy to discuss how to arrange viewings to accommodate this.

Best wishes & God bless, 16A.

More about the household:

New to London? Looking for a church home? Looking to live in a community as opposed to a typical flat share?

Hinde Street Methodist Church currently has vacancies in its community flat shares, which are conveniently located with a few minutes’ walk of Marylebone High Street and Oxford Street - and we would love for you to join us!

So what are we asking of you?
• That you are interested in living in a community, participate in weekly community nights and make some great new friends.
• Make Hinde Street Methodist Church your home church and become an active part of the wider Hinde Street community. We are a diverse church, and we believe in inclusive Church - a church which celebrates and affirms every person and does not discriminate.

We are supported by a presbyter, a deacon and a community worker. We have an open and thoughtful theology, and an emphasis on caring for those on the margins of society, especially though our charity the West London Mission. We have three services each Sunday – a 10am quiet service without music, an 11am traditional service with organ music, and a 6pm service that is more informal and contemplative. During the Covid-19 lockdown we have been sharing in online worship. There are a number of groups for young adults, and class groups to get to know others in the church. If you are looking to make friends and be a part of a real community, Hinde Street Methodist Church could be the place for you.

Housemates enjoy taking an active role in serving/volunteering in the life of the church and its projects - there are many and varied aspects to chose from!

And what do you get in return?
• Furnished rooms in one of our well-appointed flats
• A real home instead of just another flatshare
• Very convenient central London location with great transport links
• Extremely competitive rent
