More about the accommodation:
Our home is a large flat across two floors, with the upstairs floor being the spatious bedroom on offer for our lodger with a beautiful view of the local park and over to Torpoint in Cornwall. You must be OK with stairs.
In the room there is a double bed and mattress (please always use a mattress protector on this). The room also has a desk, pin board, desk chair, small wardrobe, set of drawers and a TV which you can use a HDMI cable to watch TV on from a laptop. There is also space under the bed for storage boxes if you wish to bring them.
The kitchen and bathroom is shared with space set aside for your things. Ideally you would bring your own kitchen crockery and utensils, bedding and towels but these could be provided if required.
There is a courtyard garden shared with the downstairs flat, with an opportunity for gardening and has good sun coverage for most of the daytime.
There are several smaller shops and takeaways on the road nearby, excellent bus routes and a fantastic park next to our flat. There is a school opposite the house and the neighbours are lovely. The Torpoint Ferry and Devonport train station is also located very close by.
All bills, Wifi and Council tax are included in the monthly cost. We would prefer to keep the living room to ourselves as we are a married couple who work from home and need space for our personal belongings, but we are generally sociable and may invite people to watch TV or films or play games from time to time, but we anticipate our lodger will be fairly independent and be out working or at university so will use the bedroom as their personal space when home and can of course use the kitchen and bathroom, too.
There is a shared communal entrance at the front of the house for both flats in the building. There are lots of parking spaces on the road outside the house which you would need a permit for. The downstairs flat has cats and we occasionally have dogs visiting with family, so you must be comfortable with seeing animals sometimes.
We aim to keep our house clean and tidy, so we hope our lodger would also enjoy living this way and be happy to wash up as you go (as there is limited counter space around the sink). Although we like talking and occasionally playing music, we are generally a quiet household and hope that our lodger would also be respectful of noise levels and keeping noise to a minumum when having guests over.
We are looking for a lodger who is also a non-smoker. We are ready to welcome someone to stay in our home if we all seem compatible and think our daily routines would work well together. You are welcome to visit and look around and it would be great to meet you.
We are looking for a lodger for a minimum of 3 months and then could extend the contract on a month by month basis if you would like to stay longer. More details to be outlined in the contract.
